Windy Beach Wedding

A bride flees the windy Cape May shoreline after finishing up epic portraits on the rocks at the Cape May Lighthouse & Beach in Cape May Point, NJ. Her ceremony at St. John Neumann Church in North Cape May had just finished when she, her groom and the wedding party decided to go on location for some fun, outdoor portraits. A few rogue strands of hair blow just above her mouth as the groom hustles to gather up her veil and gown before they also fall victim to the wind and sand. The waves crashing against the rocks and a view of the ocean can be seen in the background, giving the viewer a sense of time and place. Even though the image is candid, the bride still looks gorgeous and her expression tells a story of her being so happy on that particular day that not even the elements bother her. Overall, the image feels whimsical and spontaneous. The lighthouse is a popular photo-op location for couples getting married at the Southern Mansion in Cape May, NJ. Set in the 1860s, the Italianate mansion features well-manicured grounds, ornate antique furniture, and other period pieces. Lauren Brimhall, the photographer who shot this image, is a preferred vendor at the venue.
