Hey Everyone! Over time, I have come up with so many words of advice for brides to get the most out of their wedding photography, but unfortunately, there is never quite enough time to go over all of them in the regular process of meeting/emailing/engagement sessions etc.

It’s because of this that I’ve decided to start a new Wedding Tip Series on my blog, Facebook and Twitter pages, providing a new helpful piece of photography-related advice for brides every Wednesday! Most brides don’t know this, but there is so much YOU can do to help your photographer capture every key moment of your day, in the most beautiful and memorable ways possible. Please keep in mind, these are not steadfast right and wrong ways of doing things, just suggestions from a photographer’s perspective, so take them with that context in mind!

Without further adu, Here is Tip No. 1 in the Wedding Tip Wednesday Series:

“Don’t stand on an angle at the top of the aisle, so your photographer can get a good view of the ring exchange!”

Basically, when you are about to exchange rings, make sure you are turned and facing each other directly and neither of your backs is facing into the aisle. If one or both of you have your backs facing the aisle, it’s very difficult for your photographer, shooting from the aisle, to get a good view of the actual hands/rings as you exchange them. Here is an example of an ideal ring-exchange stance:

And here is an example of a ring exchange where the groom’s back was facing into the aisle.

My hope for this series it that, even if brides don’t remember every tip posted (we don’t want you stressing about these things on your wedding day!) by reading them you will subconsciously remember and follow some of them as you are enjoying your wedding day, making your photos as impactful and beautiful as your photographer is capable of making them!

Dear Clients: If you see your photos up here as examples, please don’t think it means I think they are not good photos! They simply serve as visual aid to the tips I’m trying to give. Obviously, I would never post anything that I thought was a bad photo on my blog 🙂 Thanks guys!
